It's been a while .....

WOW, what a crazy summer I've been having! I don't think I've stopped since school ended way back in April!
I must apologize to my limited following for ignoring my blog over the last couple months, but I am back now! (or at least I will try to post more often than I have been).
This summer has been amazing! I realize how lucky I am that I didn't have to work this summer, or more to the point, lucky my hubby didn't hound me to get a job! I have spent the last 3 and a half months (mostly) at our house in Cottage Cove in Asessippi by Russell, MB puttering around the yard tending my flowers, and enjoying the beautiful weather we've had. We have had plenty of visitors this summer, which is fantastic, and when we haven't been entertaining, I've been travelling (while my poor man works to pay the bills, lol)! I've been back and forth to Winnipeg a few times for various reasons, and I went home to Saskatchewan and Alberta to visit family a couple times, something I would not have been able to do had I been working.

Over the summer, we've done some fishing, and I must say how great it has been to get out there and bask in the hot sun with my line in the water! And, oh my, have they been biting! We've been limiting out in a matter of an hour or two! It has been nice having friends and family come visit us to go fishing, and it is even better that all our bragging about how good the fishing is out here hasn't been a lie, lol!

In June while Alex and his dad and brothers were fishing up North at God's Lake, I hopped on a plane and went to visit my good friend Ellie in Wine Country (Penticton, BC). That was a fabulous trip and I will blog about it at some point!

Alex and I made a quick trip home to Medicine Hat for the July Long weekend to celebrate Canada day with our family and friends. That was lots of fun too! This party gets bigger and better every year; I can only imagine what next year will hold! My step-dad Terry and his band played for a couple hours, and that alone elevated this party to a whole new level! Fun was had by all!

In July, I went to Las Vegas with my sister-in-law Rhonda and her good friend and neighbour Amy. It was a last minute, whirlwind trip! Rhonda called me on a Tuesday evening to see what I was doing for the weekend and by Thursday at 7:50 pm we were de-boarding the plane in +40-something heat in Vegas! We had a FABULOUS time, Vegas is always an amazing place to go (this was my second time there). After this trip, I think the next one I will be less tourist - more relaxed!! Both times I've gone, it has been a lot of walking and sightseeing, etc. Next time I think I will lay by the pool and sip a slushy drink, do a little shopping, and of course over-indulge on the food!

Also in July, my Mom and Terry decided to come out and camp at Asessippi on Lake of the Prairies (about 10 minutes from our house), the first time they have camped in 7 years. Poor Mom, Terry and their pupps Cleo and Patches! The week they were here was by far the hottest and most humid week we had all summer, the highest it hit was +46 Celsius with the humidex, and they were sleeping in a tiny little Boler without AC! If you’ve never experienced heat like that with the humidity, count yourself very lucky! It is unbearable, you almost can’t breathe it is so hot and unless you have AC, you cannot get away from it (thankfully we just bought and installed 2 window AC units in our house, so we had some reprieve!).

Now that it is August, the craziness of summer is starting to slow down a little bit. We are still doing a bit of entertaining, my in-laws are coming to visit us this weekend and we plan to do some fishing and attend the first annual Wine and Martini tasting at the Asessippi Resort! Should be a good time!
Now is the time of year when I must start mentally preparing myself to get back into the routine of school, *sigh. I think when the day actually comes though I will be ready to get some structure back into my days! Or at least I will keep telling myself that until I believe it!
